Who is he?

Designer Shinzi Katoh   
His hot products with wide appeal include fabric, tote bags and T-shirts.
He is an active artist and has also illustrated children's and adult picture books.
From the 70's, he began creating many designs and plans, using a variety of materials to be sold domestically as well as overseas.
After working as chief designer for a stationery company, he designed goods incorporating ceramic, wood, melamine, glass, towel, tote bags and T-shirts, while continuing to work on illustrated books.
Gakken published five of Katoh's children's books. Yet another of his books was chosen for prestigious Japanese children's book award.
He will illustrate three children's books this year 2006.
Spring 2005, Katoh debuted his private line of clothing, bags, kitchen goods, and china.
He also serves as advisor and featured designer for Yokohama Freeway shop.
Katoh's creations are gaining popularity overseas, with products available at MoMA in San Francisco and a distributor in the U.K.
His tote bag and fabric designs are sought after in many foreign countries.
Presently, Katoh is working on oil paintings to be shown at a private exhibition in New York City.

70년대부터 신지가토는 다방면의 상품을 제작하는 스토어와 갤러리의 수석 디자이너를 엮임 했습니다.
그는 다양한 소재를 가지고 창조적인 작업을 하는 것으로 유명합니다. 1989년 그는 독립 프리랜서의 길을 가게 되었고, 자신의 회사를 가지게 되었습니다.
나무,유리,도자기 그리고 패브릭 등을 이용한 다양한 아이템을 많이 만들었으며, 사람들 사이에서 인기가 있는 포스트 카드 같은 경우는 종류만도 1000가지가 넘습니다.
그는 정기적으로 새로운 디자인을 창조하며, 많은 고정 고객들을 가지고 있습니다. 2003년에는 150종의 티셔츠 디자인을 선보였으며, 어린이를 위한 책도 발간하였습니다. 또한 요코하마에 있는 테디베어 전시관에서 어린이를 위한 전시회를 열기도 했습니다. 2005년에는 가방, 옷, 인테리어소품, 도자기 등의 개인 용품을 런칭 했으며, 미국 샌프란시스코와 영국 등에도 판매되고 있습니다.
특히 그의 토트 백은 많은 나라에서 독특한 디자인으로 유명합니다. 현재는 도쿄에서 패션 매장을 운영중이고, 많은 수의 디자이너가 함께 하고 있습니다.
최근 shinzi katoh는 뉴욕 전시회를 위해 유화를 준비하고 있습니다.
